Is google play working on the y5 now? Is there a way to have the android ui on the y5? (I have the y5 on order, should receive it on monday)
Hi Mike.
The old ROM does support GPlay. New one doesn’t.. Hopefully nexg version will fix this.. But you have to revert to old rom to get GPlay to work.
I dont have the “Settings → General → About , Reboot Recovery” on my goophone Y5. I can go to settings, general, about, but the reboot recovery option isn’t there. Any suggestions?
where is the link to download the ROM update?
thanx
New sub-site for this phone is currently being created..
Hi.
What do i do if the reboot recovery option is not there?!
You power on your phone while holding down the “Volume +” key ond the side.. This should bring the Apple on the screen along with the text in lover left corner: “Recovery mode”
hello this room works in android 4.0? my goophone have a android 4 .
I need a google play
hi, this rom is v. 2.3.6 of Android.. if you have the 4.0 I would love to have a copy of that rom to work with: … make a backup of the rom using the recovery, take system.img and boot.img of that rom and zip it.. then upload a place where I can get my hands on it.. thank you.
I also have Goophone Y5, with Android 4 ICS.
I can not enter recovery mode.
“Volume +” + “Power ON” => recovery does not enter
“Volume +” + “Power ON” + central button => recovery does not enter
“Volume -” + “Power ON” => recovery does not enter
any ideas please?

You can try to install m44-toolbox.apk at the top of this site..
It has an option to “Reboot Recovery”..
Can you make a backup of your rom – I would like to see the 4.0 ROM.
Officially there are no ICS rom for GooPhone Y5, so you might be owner of a Sophone V75 or another model – not the GooPhone Y5..
m44-toolbox.apk needs to be root to run “Reboot Recovery”, and I can’t be root, if I can’t boot into recovery mode.
Yes of course.. My bad.. (My phone came pre-rooted that’s why I didn’t give the rooting part a thought..)
What happens when you boot with vol. up?
Do you go to a screen with the robot and a triangle with a “!” inside?
When I boot with “power” + “Vol +”, the phone turns on normally. Apple’s logo appears, not the android.
I’m downloading the SDK android. I read that I can reboot into the recovery mode by ADB.
Yes.. But maybe you can’t reboot to recovery if no recovery image is written on the phone..
You might want to try the following when you get ADB connection:
type “ADB shell”
then.
“cat /proc/mtd”
you should get something simular to this: (probably a little different)
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 00500000 00020000 “boot”
mtd1: 00500000 00020000 “recovery”
mtd2: 00140000 00020000 “misc”
..etc..
You can see there is a partition called “recovery”
You then download the recovery.img at the top of this site..
You know use an app called z4root to temp root your phone.
Run m44-toolbox and install the recovery.img to the recovery partition.
shell@android:/ $ cat /proc/mtd
cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
if i type:
>adb reboot recovery
then appears “the robot and a triangle with a “!” inside”
When i type:
>adb reboot recovery
windows, find a new hardware “MT65xx Preloaded”. But i can’t find drivers for this device.
When at the robot and the triangle with “!” try pressing power + vol up…
This was the way to enter the recovery on my old HTC device
You might be very close
press “on” + “vol up” does not work.
i’ve installed, MT65xx drivers and does not affect.
it sounds like the recovery partition has been erased..
Try booting normally and then install z4root.apk (I’ll find it and post it here..)
